Slick Tricks
I was sitting here stropping a mirrored shine on my last 3 Montec g5 heads, and got to thinking... Who's running which model Trick?

Re: Slick Tricks
Been using 100gr S.T.'s since they came out Never a lost critter and always a great blood trail. They are as accurate as my 100gr field tips and always do the job!

Thinking about picking up a couple packs... Any real advantage in the various designs?

Re: Slick Tricks
Just switched over myself. Bought a pack of 125gr standards and a pack of magnums. Flight performance is very similar. Both fly great. The standards hit maybe 1/2" - 3/4" lower than a FP at 40 yards, and the Magnms hit mabe 1/2" lower than that. Makes sense to me because of the increased drag of the blades (vs a FP). Windage was perfect.....but like any fixed blade they will point out which arrows aren't your best. Just save those for close range, or try a quality mechanical on them. I like the Swhackers.

150 x-bow trick's , real deadly.
Re: Slick Tricks
Took a look at the Swhackers... I dunno, I have a general fear of mech heads. Heard too many horror stories apparently.
Re: Slick Tricks
If you are using 100gr brass inserts in your arrows then use the 100gr Slick Tricks, either the regular or magnum . Both are 4 blade and weigh 100gr Magnums have 1&1/4" bl;ade width were regulars have 1" cutting width
If you have aluminum inserts then the 125gr ST shoot better

Re: Slick Tricks
I shoot the 175 grain x bow tricks with aluminum inserts and think they preform very well on the deer I have shot.
I sight in with them they shot a inch and a half off of the field tips at 30 yards for me but this is my 3rd season with them and I plan on sticking with them.
I like the 4 blade cut 2 1/4 in total it is bigger than the bolt cutter, when you shoot a dear I just replace the blades and reuse the head they are very well made and a reasonable price also.

Re: Slick Tricks
Slick Trick blades are strong and VERY sharp out of the pack. Sharper than anything else I have bought.
Just built myself a rig to strop with....2x2 with a hunk of old belt glued to it. Using Herb's Yellowstone. I am enjoying it and am impressed at how much sharper a blade gets when you strop it. Will not have any problems stropping Slick Trick blades back to shaving sharpness.
Woods - I am shooting Montec CS's at a bison in Dec - I hope. Curious as to your stropping technique with them. I have one I sharpened and just stropped it by dragging it "backward" my stropping jig (flat on the jig moving away from the point). Do you do that or do you try to strop each edge seperately?
Thanks.

Re: Slick Tricks
i got my Montec Stainless Steel's very very scary sharp... Smiths Orange diamond sharpener... then moved down to the 600 grit G5 sharpener, then 1200 grit side... then stropped on the back of a business card (Cardstock). it shaved armhairs very easily... i would not hesitate to sling one at something rather large.
