"Shotgun" Arrowheads?

Post by IronNoggin »

I see Rac-em-bac is offering an arrowhead that basically turns your arrow into a mini-shotgun:

Reasonably inexpensive, they might be an answer to taking grouse / rabbits /etc.

Anyone ever try these? Or have any thoughts on them?

Wondering...

They do work
They also have a head that will hold a 38 or 357mag round.
May my aim be true and my arrow fly straight

LOL! Yeah, saw that video here. I'd be more than a little worried about the "Equal and opposite Reaction" thing - as in just how much damage would be incurred on a fine carbon arrow? Besides, can't think of anything I'd really like to try one on that's legal here...

Cheers,

Interesting product but I do not see the point any small game hit with a plain blunt is going down anyway.
In the video showing the pellets in the tissue were is the bruising and wound channel that comes from pellets traveling through flesh ?

I agree with you boys. Although the design is interesting there is no need for the pellets to go into the meat. An accurate blunt shot will kill small game instantly on impact, that head would work far better with the lead weight kept inside the blunt on impact !

I used to hunt small game with my longbow and blunt tipped arrows. A good hit was always meat for the pot.
Why fill that meat full of shot?

I think the "cool" factor is its only selling point as the pellets is overkill. I cannot see them selling to many.

I guess whatever floats your boat but I see this a "gimic" that will most likely be only available in the States as most probably will be banned in Canada. I do not see the need of this as most game I have shot have been complete pass thru's. Looks like some one has taken the exploding Rambo movie heads ( the old razorback 5's with the gold painted plastic guards) and brought it to real life. In my opinion if you want to shoot pellets then shoot a shotgun. It will be interesting what will happen to these and what else this concept will spawn!!!

cheers

Sorry I'm just not seeing it. "gimic" seems to fit as mentioned above. :?

Different types of weapons for different types of hunting, if you want to use shot, use a shotgun, its better and will have the velocity/shock to kill an animal quickly. But people will buy anything

My state will not allow any "exploding projectile"
I can`t understand what causes the pellets to spread.
Pressure- impact? powder?
