Propaganda time :)
Howdy,
New to the board, new to crossbow. Actually, I haven't even bought one yet. I've been reading through the posts (Trading post in particular) - you guys are remarkably generous! Lots of posts just giving stuff away
Looking for your input as to what I should be looking for - Why should I choose Excalibur (obviously they came highly recommended ) over a compound? Why did you all choose Excalibur?
Will be hunting Turkey mainly, coyotes as well, and likely will want to try it for deer. I have shotguns and rifles, but want to try something new . The research I've done points me to 300fps or more, pistol grip.
Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated
Cheers all

Re: Propaganda time :)
I went with Excals because they're simple to use, easy to maintain, comfortable, dependable, no Dealer to have to press to change out string & harness cables every 90 days. Very good warranty, been shootin them fer 14 yrs. Most any model you choose will get the job done jus pick the one you like n start shootin
Re: Propaganda time :)
Less parts to go wrong and adjust (KISS principle)
Easy to restring where ever you want. All you need is a simple stringing aid and a string!
Low possibility of damage on a dry-fire or semi dry-fire
Low cost of ownership
Accuracy tends to be very static throughout the life time of the bow
Awesome warranty even on consecutive ownerships
Bows are very tough even under the worst of conditions
Longevity is truly unknown and seems limitless. You should expect to hand this down in perfect working condition.
I'm sure there's more that I take for granted.
Good luck in your search and welcome to the forum!

Re: Propaganda time :)
Most has been already stated about Excals.
I have owned a few compounds in the past and it is a pain to go back to shop to have strings replaced.
The compounds I would not do over half what I have done with my Excal.
In a stand the hook I had my Excal on broke and crossbow fell 25ft.
No fire of bolt and nothing wrong.
Decocked cleaned off dirt and went back to hunting.

Re: Propaganda time :)
Ern, Excal is one of the best out there, all are real tack drivers. Right now is an excellent time to buy too. Check this forum and others as well as EBay and Amazon for the best deals. I saw an Axiom kit for a steal on EBay yesterday and you can't go wrong with an Axiom as a first and maybe last bow you will ever need. Be patient and wait for good deals. If you find an Excal model you are not sure about the guys on this forum will give you an honest low down on it. You can't go wrong with the people's opinions here. They are not factory representatives, just every day hunters gladly willing to help. Cheers.

Re: Propaganda time :)
Ern,I chose Excalibur Crossbows because...
1. The ability to De-cock crossbow when entering a safety zone.
2.Recurve design is very easy to change strings afield.
3.Same hole accuracy.
4.Built and designed by Hunters for Hunters.
5.Warranty

Re: Propaganda time :)
Your post described an Exocet 200, which is my favorite platform. Note that the 330 fps advertised calls for a Flemish string and 350 gr arrows, but you will get over 300 fps w/ it.
As mentioned previously, the warranty covers used xbows, hint hint, lol.

Re: Propaganda time :)
Welcome !! I read tons and asked all kind of questions before finding a deal on a Exocet200 , there are great knowledgeable people here to help you out. Due to the new Matrix that just came out there are some good deals here in the Trading Post. Good luck !!

Re: Propaganda time :)
I accidently ended up with my Phoenix, and up until a year ago, I knew nothing about crossbows or Excalibur, looking back, I am thrilled now. Within the year, I know my Xbow inside and out and how to tweak it for max performance. They are deadly accurate, very simple as mentioned and the biggest plus, has been both the support from Excalibur themselves and the forum members here. Even Dealers of this product are helpful and have nothing but good things to say about them. If every manufacture took this much pride in pleasing their customers, the world would be a better place!
I do prefer the traditional stock over the thumb hold, but that's just a personal preference.

Re: Propaganda time :)
This is exactly why I think I am going to have to get an Excalibur. I've asked on a couple of other websites, have given the same descriptions, and haven't had much luck in getting any info back. The info is very much appreciated.
I actually just found out my boss has an Excalibur (Equinox), he's going to bring it in and we're going to take an afternoon and shoot it
I didn't mention that I live in Kitchener, so I would love to shop local LOL
Cheers

Re: Propaganda time :)
I can honestly say from experience that it is one of the top crossbows on the market today if not the best. The service and warranty is second to none on the market. The most user friendly crossbow to own. And whatever else I have missed I will double the vote on the rest. No regrets whatsoever in buying and owning Excalibur crossbows.
