Larger Stirrrup
Larger Stirrrup
Need a larger stirrup to cock my Exomax when wearing my cold weather pack boots. Made a temporary with 2 inch nylon webbing, it worked but,but was hoping a oversized one may be available for next winter. Just wondering if anyone else has similar situation.

Re: Larger Stirrrup
I have seen where guys will substitute their stirrup for a rounded cord, it would accommodate whatever boot size you wear.
The original intent was so the stirrup would lean down to fit a huge blade for turkeys, but the concept would well work for you.
If not, there are fabricators here that could likely hook you up.

Re: Larger Stirrrup
I don,t see why not . I to have trouble getting my big boot in the stirrup an that,s why I use rope. I thought about building a larger one on a hinge that folds back under the bow. mabey a munch stirrup someday

Re: Larger Stirrrup
Possibly not the most convenient to carry but you could slip a length of 2x4 through the stirrup then stand on that while cocking your boy?

Re: Larger Stirrrup
That was basic the same idea I had with a plate.
Drill and tap to holes in the front of the stirrup
Drill two holes in a small metal plate to match up with holes on stirrup
and mount on stirrup.
Sorry was not more discriptive earlier

Fitted a t bar to mine.
Re: Larger Stirrrup
Sounds like a good place for a piece of 2X4 with a crossways slot cut near one end, and some anti skid tape (like used on stair steps) on the other end of the opposite side. Slip slot over stirrup, step on the portion with anti slip tape and cock the bow. Simple, cheap, adds no extra weight to front of bow, no disassemble required when not used.

How much of your boot/foot will easily fit in the stirrup?

Re: Larger Stirrrup
Some great ideals for sure from the folks on here! now thinking about a T handle that folds under after cocking an that might save a toe or two if you forget to take your arrow off uncocking your bow? but now working with some aluminum channel building a kicker motor bracket for my pontoon to get ready for some shallow water bowfishing. sounds like a good project an mabey save me a toe or two later on

Re: Larger Stirrrup
I was thinking the same thing with the T hold, but balance might be an issue for some, or the other option would be a C shape. With different grades of aluminum, there should be no problem with strength with either.Masboy wrote:Some great ideals for sure from the folks on here! now thinking about a T handle that folds under after cocking an that might save a toe or two if you forget to take your arrow off uncocking your bow? but now working with some aluminum channel building a kicker motor bracket for my pontoon to get ready for some shallow water bowfishing. sounds like a good project an mabey save me a toe or two later on![]()
