Tighten yer' Broadheads

Post by Cherokeeson »

So what does everyone here use to tighten their broadheads? Any homemade solutions or just ....

I picked up a broadhead wrench from the local sporting goods store.

Fabrication, ...yes;
For slick-tricks, took a piece of steel rod (any metal would do) and counter bored the end with a bit about a 1/16" larger than the diameter of the point and about 1/4-5/15" deep. Wipe the point lightly with paste wax or mould-release. Work Marine Tex into the cavity to mostly fill it and lightly coat the slick-trick point (AFTER applying release -to prevent voids). Set the point into the prepared cavity and support it so it stays vertical till it sets up. Drill a through hole crossways on the other end and use a hex key or a small rod for a torque handle.

This worked for me. There is a 4-corner-to-point mating surface. Press hard downward and apply a moderate torque. I suppose any good epoxy would work but I always keep Marine Tex around for stuff like this. It is "bullet proof".

Usually delicately finger tighten. Remove with cheap plastic broadhead tool. So far (after 40 years of bow hunting) I still have all my fingers. Lol
