I know it's too late now, but the best place to put your front hand when shooting with a rest is under you cheek or just in front of it. This will occupy your free hand and keep it safe.

Might sound nutty, but post a pic. Someone here posted a nasty looking pic of their thumb accident not long after I join this great forum, and every time I pick up my x-bow I remember that pic and keep my digits clear.

Props to you for posting what happened, its the best way for all newbies to learn and a great reminder for the more experienced guys/gals here.

Tried to add a small pic.(64kb) but only got the message "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

Sorry to hear you whacked your thumb. I hope you heal up quick and get back to shooting soon. :)
