with/without lumenok

Post by Hoagy »

There have been a few posts wondering if adding the Lumenok affected FOC. So i tested one of my bolts without a Lumenock (String 1) & with a Lumenock.(String 2) If you click on the chart it expands.

Without

Note that FOC decreased from 13.84% to 12.38% or 1.46%.
The FPS decreased from 301fps to 297fps or 4fps.
The KE increased from 80.865 to 81.276 or 0.411ft_lbs
Hope this helps answer the question,

Thanks Hoagy, I shot my Diablos with and without and knew they were pretty close, and that is close enough. Neat that even though you lost a fractrion of speed you gained fp of energy. I love Lumenoks. Cheers Wayne

Hey Guys and Gals:

I would love to use lumenocks and I"m sorry I"m so unknowlegable BUT do the Lumenock just screw into the end of the bolt or do you have to remove the insert and re insert the Lumenock?
Some of the folks seem very knowlegible about this on this post.

Thanks

If you're going to install the Lumis yourself, the nock must be removed. Personally, I'm partial to Firenocks. Just outfitted my 'early and late arrows' for three bows with same.

Hey Mike, You can remove the standard knock by screwing in a field point & tie a wire onto something solid on tie the loose end onto the base of the field point. I then heat the fp with a small flame on a propane bottle while applying a firm pull on the bolt until it slides out.
then i use a 30 calibur gun barrel cleaner (wire brush) to clean the old glue from the inside of the bolt, then just push in the lumenok. Hope this helps,
Hoagy

Damn is that with your modified Axiom???? I thought the Axiom's factory spec for KE was 72.3 which would have put 81.276 KE and a 414.5 gr arrow at only 280fps. That's a very impressive gain of like 5.7% in performance if so! Incredible job.

Hey Ami, no this Axiom is not modified in any way. It's all Boo string, 18" bolt & max tuning on the xbow. I shot 314fps with this bolt & a 100gr field point with a standard nock. Thanks,

Yeah Don makes a very nice string. I think his Matrix string still needs some tweaking, but it's new and I can wait. It's certainly a reliable string, but I think it might be sucking up some of the PE in the CRT limbs because I haven't seen any consistent comparable numbers yet. I've also seen very little, and that's likely because of the lack of Matrices out there testing Boo strings. :) Hoping to get one when there's more testing and the numbers are more predictable.
