where do you keep your rope cocker?

Post by massbow »

I was really wondering if its ok to keep it on the string in its uncocked postion. Or would that do harm to the string?

On my bows as well and when I shoot it goes in my pocket or on the ground. I used to put it around my neck till one day a hook went over the string. I never knew blood could squirt such a far distance!

I have all 4 of my Excals hung up in the cabin on pegs by the stirrup. So my rope cockers hang down off string or if'en huntin i put them in my pocket & pack.

I've shortened the cocker ropes on all my bows to make cocking easier (shorter pull). That has the added advantage of making the cocker stay on the bow by simply attaching the hooks after raising the sting about 3-5" to catch the second hook. String tension keeps it in place. Cocker rides on each bow at all non-hunting times, along with their individual quivers. That way I grab the bow and am all set to hunt. I hang then both close at hand whenever in the blind.

yes I do that also. started to think what if... now I am pretty certain to STOP doing that! * mine stays on the bow, until I put it in my pocket, when hunting.

I thought I read a Boo post that Excal is coming out with a new retractable roper cocker? Any truth to this?
