Am I nuts or can other people smell a shot? I get a weird smell after each shot.

Its the Friction of the string on the rail ...the string has wax in and on it that's what your smelling

I agree with Newbie, IMO it's the aluminum nock sliding on the rail. I don't get it when I use lumenoks.

yep... the rails without the paint/camo are the ones that seem to smoke up.
my vortex used to smell like sulphur when shooting indoors.my exomax does not have the problem.
if you shoot them at night, you can see the sparks fly sometimes... seriously.

do not wax your deck
use Daltons 2000 on your string and serving keep your deck free of wax I use silicone spray on a rag and wipe the deck off be sure not to get on your string
Wax on the deck collects all sorts of nasty stuff and turns it into a pasty sanding goop

I've heard heaps of different opinions on this one.
I believe the gunpowder smell is more to do with the friction of the different metals in the shaft/inserts against the anodized rail . In my case the carbon shaft against the rail. I use carbon lighting bolts with plastic nocks but the smell is still there intermittently.I've burned the wax I use. It smells nice, but its nothing like metal/gunpowder smell I sometimes get.
