What should the speed ring be set on when sighting the 380 in at 20 yards?
Re: Matrix 380 Sighting In
I shoot the Diablo arrow with 150gn field points and my chrono speed was a steady 350fps so if your using the same arrow set it at 350, that's what I used to site my 380 in at with no issues......

The speed ring has nothing to do with 20 yards that's your crosshairs. Use the speed ring for 30 40 50 and 60 yards.

OK. Thanks. I was not sure if it would affect the 20 yard sight in when adjusting for 50. I need to shoot more and test what occurs.
Re: Matrix 380 Sighting In
I've never had a speed ring before on a crossbow scope so when I got my 380 I shot it through the chrono out of the box set the speed ring and went from there, no issues. All my other crossbows I sighted in at 20 yards out of the box after shooting 10 yards just to make sure the sights/scope were close.

Fwiw, the 'speed ring' changes the distance between the aim points, but the crosshairs stay centered in the scope, so no change to them........

Just like my Varmit scope on my 22-250 and 5.56. I kinda thought it was the same thing.awshucks wrote:Fwiw, the 'speed ring' changes the distance between the aim points, but the crosshairs stay centered in the scope, so no change to them........

Re: Matrix 380 Sighting In
Do I have this right?
As you move the speed ring up to higher ratings this would move the 30, 40 & 50 points closer to the cross hairs to adjust for a faster arrow?? Thanks

Re: Matrix 380 Sighting In
Sometimes the speed ring doesn't correspond exactly to the speed of your arrow as well. It will generally be close, but you may have to adjust it slightly. I set the speed ring for my approximate speed of my bow and then I will sight in at 20 and then will shoot at 30, 40 and 50 to see if it corresponds correctly. If the arrows get progressively lower at these distances then you need to turn the speed ring down and if they get progressively higher you need to turn the speed ring up a little. Usually it doesn't take long to get it dialed in.

The speed ring should just be used as a guide. As any change you make from the standard arrow/string weight & speed means you will have to adjust it to the set distances.
