Way back when I was involved in a couple of studies on the effectiveness of Bear Spray on Grizzlies. From what I can recall, ~ 65% were dissuaded by the stuff, 20% simply stood their ground, and 15% immediately ATTACKED the source! In every instance with the latter, it was a Large Dominant Boar which Attacked!

Since then I find a bit more "comfort" keeping this Ol' Gal somewhat handy when in their areas

Oh yikes!

I'm never carrying a gun or bear spray in my bear nightmares. It's about the only reoccurring bad dream I have .

Don't know what the stats say about it but when I am fishing or picture taking in some areas I wear ankle bells as well as carry a scattergun. Have not had to use the gun yet.

I have recurring bear nightmares. I always have a firearm, but it won't fire. Maybe I should wear ankle bells in my next bear dream. :) Think I'd rather have a gun that fires though.

That way your family can identify your "remains" by looking for bear poop with bells in it.
