String Ferry

Post by gundog »

The string ferry left me a brand new Boo string under my pillow. What is the proper way to start off a boo string. Just shoot it or is there a proto call ?

Hmmm, never thought of Boo as a Fairy before.
You are truly a lucky person getting a visit though. Great strings without a doubt.
Twist the string up pretty good when you install it. Maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch over the highest brace mark. It will stretch faster and settle in faster that way.

No brace mark on a Matrix  but ya what the others said, on my Y25 and Vortex I set the string on the high brace mark, let it sit for a bit and shot for a bit then adjusted it after it stretched out. The 1st Boo string I just set it on the high brace mark and let it sit over night then shot and adjusted.
I just received a Boo string yesterday for my Matrix that I need to put on, can't wait to shoot with it.

Contrary to popular opinion, don't allow too much over your desired bheight on a Boo string, they don't stretch[creep] much........

Put it on needed no ajustment.just the right amount of brace. Shot it a little.it settled in and 30 yard bulls soon followed.

I'm a little disappointed with the misspelling . . .I thought Boo was sending a Ferry full of strings over from the Island. :? Then to find out he's a fairy . . . .

I agree, set it a tad high at first and shoot. Check it often during the first 20 shots, then you just need to check it once before you start your practice session or before a hunt . . .those do not stretch much.

Boo's are my favorite. You are a lucky man!

Went and looked at my Y25 with the Boo string and it hasn't moved in 2 yrs, still where I set it so yep I'll set mine about 3/16 off the SDS and go from there with the 380.

With the higher proloaded limbs and the higher draw weight of the Matrix bows you'll find more string creep compared to your Y25. I would start it 1/2" from the bumpers. No harm if you start at 3/16th". It just means you'll be adjusting more often.

Thanks for the heads up Don, I'll start at about 1/2 and let it sit over night soon as my son helps me  . He's outside trying to see how to put a radio in my Polaris Ranger Crew Cab, he thinks thats more important at the moment hahaha.
