Can the Ibex drop a moose?

Post by SniperWolf »

Hello forum I was wondering if anyone here has ever dropped a moose with an Ibex? My bow is shooting 100 gr slick trick magnums, firebolt crossbolts.

I haven't, but a slightly quartering away shot would be best for any archery shot on a moose under 30 yards.

Never used an Ibex but below is cut and paste from Ontario Regs with the link below that.
Crossbows must have a draw length of at least 300 mm (11.8 in.) and a draw weight of at least 54 kilograms (119 lb.). At a minimum bolts must have a 22 mm (0.87 in.) wide head with at least two sharp cutting edges

I would go even heavier and use a 2 blade head like a Magnus Stinger. Easton FMJ with brass insert and 150 gr Stinger will put you around 575 total wt. You don't need a flat trajectory because the target is a bit larger than on a deer :).

I would definitely shoot a heavier arrow for moose but stay with the Slick Trick because they penetrate well and leave a very good blood trail.
