We spent this past week up at our cabin. I left the head of the moose I took last fall in the bush to let nature clean it up. Finally have it home. It's not a big rack by any means (48" wide) but it has a few interesting features so I'm going to mount it anyway. Got a nice drop tine on one side with the start of another on the other side. It'll make a nice addition to the living room wall.

For us that live this far south where there are no moose it looks big.
How much meat did you get out of it?

To a poor ol' Texan it looks awsome. Congrats, Tim.
Re: Moose rack pics
Mike - the moose was split between hunters and we ended up with 1/4 of the meat - about the same amount as from a large deer.wabi wrote:For us that live this far south where there are no moose it looks big.

Guessing that the moose was about 800 lbs live weight.

Re: Moose rack pics
At 48" he's average for our area. The rack should have more "plate" for the age of the moose but it's a bit gangly. I also have both lower jaw bones with a complete set of teeth so I was able to place his age at 3 1/2 years. He still had a bit of growing to do.vixenmaster wrote:Big as to what ? it be way bigger than any deer i have killed so it looks big to me. Plus 4 times the weight of a big deer thats a good plus. Re: Moose rack pics
Well it makes up for size with character. Bigger than any moose I've ever seen in the wild..which happens to be none.
