I went and checked my three Mike after reading your post. The one I killed with last year and re-sharpened will shave. One of the others will also. The 3rd will not shave so I will touch it up.
I find that after sitting around for a year most broadheads need a touch up.

Rob you are correct.
All broadheads should be checked periodically.
All my hunting arrows in the quiver get a close inspection from time to time, especially my number 1 arrow which gets pulled out of the quiver first.

Funny the pkg of Swhackers I picked up the other day said assembled in the USA-Blades made in Lutz, Germany. Has Swhackers changed where they get their blades from or made?

After reading this thread I checked the sharpness of my brand new Swackers out of the package. It was disturbing to say the least, just a little sharper than a butter knife. Needless to say I will not be caring these to the field. On a side note my new Wasp Jac-Hammer SST out of the package will send you to the ER for some stitches if you don't pay attention. Jac-Hammers getting the nod October 15th

It takes about 15 seconds to touch them up.
If you can sharpen a knife or anything else. Some folks just can't do it.

I purchase broadheads with the expectation that a razor blade will be razor sharp anything else is unsatisfactory and down right unethical to launch at a game animal in my mind. There are to many fixed blade and mechanical heads out there that are truely razor sharp, as opposed to buying a head that you have to sharpen up.

OK I opened mine and checked em out. Seem pretty sharp to me. Not "scalpel" sharp, but sharp enough to shave.

I was surprised at how loose the blades fit. I used a lighter to shrink the heat shrink rings so as to minimize rattle.....but they seem like they will do the job.
