He dont know how lucky he was

Post by strum »

I nice fat 4 pointer im talking about :D
Its been two weeks to the day since I got the doe and I stayed out of there till this eve.
got in the same tree and at 7pm I saw a couple of squirrels acting cwazy..
I knew somthin was in the woods..sure nuff in walks a young buck.
I say a 4 point but it may have been 3 any way I had him dead 28yards.. but I let him go. in ga we get 2 bucks and one of them has to have 4 or more on one side. and every year I shoot the lesser first and am stuck all year long with passing on good deer I cant shoot so I passed . not a fan of that rule.
anyway to me it was a kill ..I just didn't have to drag him

I know the feeling. I'm happy when I get home with a deer. I'm also equally happy some days to come home without one.

Hmmm. Gone are those days around my lease. A buck has to have an inside spread of 14 inches or be at least 3.5 yrs old before we can shoot it. These are our management rules. It is working, because I see bigger and nicer bucks every year. Passed on a couple of close ones last year, that should be good to go this year.....if someone else doesn't get to them first.
