I've held a thumb hole grip Xbow, but never fired one until today and was surprised how awkward it is to flip the safety off comparatively to the traditional stock. Maybe it's because it's all I've ever shot, but I do prefer the traditional stock for ease of use with the safety above the grip.
Just my $0.02
Phoenix Crossbow

I'd rather be hunting
I always use my right thumb (trigger hand) to ease the safety off on my Phoenix and the thumbhole stock just doesn't work for me.
On a gun with a crossbolt safety in the trigger guard a thumbhole stock is fine, but on the crossbow with the safety where it is I'll just stick with a regular stock.
I've always had the traditional type too.
every excel I have owed was bought used so that's just the way its worked out..
one thing I have always thought I would like about the T hole type is I can wrap my pull up rope through the stock.
most of the time I pull my bow up using the stirrup and ill let it down often by wrapping the rope around the grip.that works fine for pulling up but im hesitant of doing it when pulling it up as I may fall of before I can get the rope taught..then ill be going back down the tree.
other than that long description I like the tradition al better..

Like anything else awkward at first.
Have always used a thumbhole stock design.
I find it a more comfortable hold position both during long sit and shooting.
From a tree stand safety point of view a much more securing method is possible to attach the pull up rope for both raising and lowering.
I love it ! its easier to carry & I think its looks cool.but when I pick up the weatherby during rifle season to shoot im lookin for that grip!i do shoot left handed so the lighted reticle knob is on the wrong side for me but im used to it now and manage..........wish I was in the woods but gotta go work.a small coated caribiner on your bow rope works great with the 380 and the equinox & I always use a gorilla stick in my ladder stand or a field pod in the ground blind. not ready to take a free handed shot unless I walk up on a monster!argh this weekend warrior cant wait till Friday we gonna have some nice colder weather(its gonna be a high of 78 today)!smh
