What ammo was she shooting out of the .243? I am setting my youngest son up with a .243 and wondered what people are using for ammo on whitetail.
She was shooting some handloaded 80 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips it shot through the deer with no problems at all. I like 95-100 gr. Ballistic Tips also these were down loaded for her to around 2800 fps to lighten the recoil for her.

They do work pretty well I just bought this one about a week ago on Amazon for around $70.00 with free shipping. I had borrowed one from a friend of mine last year while we turkey hunted and it worked great. Our freezers are full but we have a list of people each year that if we are fortunate enough to take some adult deer we try and help these people out with venison also, this one is already spoken for.

Congrats on the great deer. Frozen woods over here in the mtns but nothing moving around this weekend. Just got out of the stand before the next batch of sleet starts up.
