Do excals Flemish strings ever stop stretching?

Post by paulaboutform »

I've got approximately 50-75 shots through my matrix 380 with xcals Flemish string and that thing hasn't stopped stretching! I've built strings for compounds for years and went from 8125 to 452X exclusively. I know my strings had zero stretch for the one year I kept the bows. I've never had a Flemish before so I'm wondering if the non-stop stretching is normal? I'm going to stretch it on my jig and try burnishing it with some paper towel. Hopefully that will stop the stretching.

I dont think you'll be happy untill you get away from D97 that excal builds their flemish strings with . Theres alot better materials on the market . :D

Yes it will stop stretching. Not so much stretching, but squeezing out the wax which makes the string grow. Shoot and keep setting the brace height and watch it settle in.

I have my main string and two spares stretched and shot in ready for use with a quick change of string, set brace height all done in the field.

I'm guessing but the string that came on your Vortex is an Excel endless loop string. They are very stable, more forgiving in case of dry fire, and a really good string all around. You loose a few Fps but it's very minimal. Its an "easy" string. You won't have to adjust it much if ever, and they shoot great. The factory Fast Flight Flemish is a little different animal. It will have to be adjusted SEVERAL times to keep a proper brace ht. You gain a few Fps, but more work. jmho

I started out with Endless loop strings on my Excal but now I use only Flemish strings and like them a lot better. If mine stretch a little at first I just put few twists in them and keep a shooting.
