E'cet 165 Shootin Chrony
It is nice this afternoon, set up wid astro flite string. 1st the cast Riser 350gr got 300 fps & 400gr got 285 fps. I have magtip limbs on it. Then put on the Forward Riser & the same string. I got 310 fps 350gr & 296 fps wid 400gr also magtip limbs. Not bad fer a 165 pounder!

A strait riser to a forward riser only went up 10FPS?

Thats correct, cast riser 300 fps & Forward riser at 310. Thats a true 6 fps faster than Axiom-Phoenix & Ibex which are all 175 lb wid Forward risers. I never had a 175 that would shoot faster than a 304 fpswheelie wrote:A strait riser to a forward riser only went up 10FPS?

Speed of your bow is good. Comment was about a machined riser I have and the shims I had custom made that raise it 12FPS. Was thinking of buying a forward riser but I would lose 2FPS. Not that 2FPS matter but why waste my money to go down in speed. I was under the impression that a forward riser would add 25 pounds equaling about 20FPS
Re: E'cet 165 Shootin Chrony
That bow was 165 lbs. with carved tip limbs, was it not.
It should be more poundage than the original with the newer mag tip limbs.

Limbs never change a models poundage! Only a Riser or Mainframe/rail. If'en you put shorter limbs on it may raise the fps some, but then you have Frankened bowed yer model n warranty

Me too. I was looking to add some speed to a cast-riser frankenbow. I understood that the forward mounted limbs on a machined riser added 25# draw weight and about 20-25fps. I was also surprised by Mike's findings.wheelie wrote:I was under the impression that a forward riser would add 25 pounds equaling about 20FPS

Yer correct they say its like addin 25lbs by usin the Forward Riser, but it doesn't bare out like that wid this 165. I were disappointed too, as i was expectin 320 fps!racking up points wrote:Me too. Do you know what the draw weight is with the forward riser? My Father picked one up and I've been bugging to upgrade the limbs and riser. He just looks at me and says, what for?vixenmaster wrote:Yer correct they say its like addin 25lbs by usin the Forward Riser, but it doesn't bare out like that wid this 165. Unless his 165 has the tall rail/mainframe a Forward Riser won't fit unless machined down to match rail. Costly fer the 10 fps gain! Try about $150 to do the riser includin its purchase.

Re: E'cet 165 Shootin Chrony
Good post Vixen! Thanks for quantifying this. I had my 165 chronographed years ago, but I don't remember the speed. However, when I put Magtips and a FF string on it, and combined it with lighter arrows (368 gr. w/ head), there was a noticeable increase in speed and a flatter trajectory.
