Matrix 355 Bolts

Post by tommybobusa »

I bought a Excalibur Matrix 355 from from Wyvern Creations , David is Great to deal with and He has The Largest Selection of Crossbow Stuff that I ever saw in one Place , I recommend buying from Him . The Matrix is in the mail but before it gets here I would like to know what Length Bolts are You Guys out there using with Your Matrix 355's, I have heard it said that 18" bolts are the ones to use and I have heard other people say 20" bolts perform better . My reason for asking is that I have (6) new 20 " bolts by crazy farmer that I bought years ago for My Exocet and I have (6) new 20" Red Hot Bolts from Parker that I only have to change the nocks to flat to use . I know most would say use the 20" because You have Them and that is what I am thinking . I am asking which , in Your "experience" are better to use performance wise .
Thanking You in advance for Your help

20" will be fine but only one way to find out if they shoot/perform to your expectations

I stick with the 18" to avoid having the end out over the stirrup. I haven't tried/measured 20" but I would suspect it might overhang with a broadhead.

I shot 20" bea's this past season from my 355.i plan on going to 18" this season soley because the overhanging broadhead seem to catch on everything. so it is all personal preference, the 20" shot just great

Don't mean to hijack but could you use some kind of short spacer between the riser and stirrup? Just enough so longer arrows don't extend past the stirrup.

sounds like a great idea to me kegbelly  , I hope the experts chime in with their opinions about it :!:

just measured mine. I shoot the spitfire maxx broadhead and I would need a 1 1/2" spacer  ,that's more then I was thinking I would need so I am back to the 18" arrow plan

Yeah Jeff that's a lot longer spacer than what I was thinking about too, I guess it depends on which BH you use.
