I'm sure you know this already... shoulder it with eyes closed and get the cheek weld you want then open your eyes, that's where the scope should be. Ideally it should be in a position where you're naturally looking thru the scope, not having to move your head around to look thru it.
I've used balls of modeling clay to temporarily set a scope on a rail or rifle receiver, you can push the scope down to compress the clay and get the scope at the height you want, then remove the scope and measure the thickness of the clay, that would be your ring height. Then shop for whatever rings you want that are close to that height.
Nice scope btw! Please follow up when you get it, I'm interested to know how the reticles line up with actual yardages from the 380.

I used the Weaver medium rings for my Equinox.

The front of the scope looks like it is contacting the rail but the rail has a grove down the center so there is plenty of room using the medium style rings.

Nice fixed power scope choice and I believe the medium rings you ordered will be needed for such a short tube, so the lens clear the rail.

I just got the Bolt for my b-day. I bought med. Leupold Rifleman rings and it's a perfect fit on my 355.

Those Leupold rings are nice, I use them myself. It's good to hear they work for the Nikon bolt XR scope on the Matrix 355.
