Stringing aid

Post by Kegbelly »

I need a new stringing aid. Have heard references to the new ones having metal inside for added strength. How do you tell which is which, what do I look for to make sure I'm getting the new one with metal? Thanks!

Got the pic, thanks Dan, exactly what I needed to know!

I had the old blue one with my old bow, one of the plastic pieces exploded on me. Been using one a guy at work made from some HDPE stock but I dont trust it with the 380. Much appreciated!

Mine broke 2 weeks ago and Danny replaced it free of charge ! His is a lot heavier made than the old blue ones .

This is what I've been using on the exomag for a few years. Its really thick. I've used it on the 380 a couple times but I don't get a warm fuzzy about it. Time for an upgrade.

Call Danny. He has a new style that is much more robust and works like a champ.

I saw a stringing aid like Miller's on Boo's Web Site. I also have a Miller stringing aid for my Matrix 380. Like the grave salesman said, "its better to have one than to not need one, then to need one and not have one." Much stronger
cocker than the old one.

There are some that look identical on ebay. :?:
Not knocking Danny's but I think I'm gonna go with the excalibur one with the metal inside it, I think I'd rather have the thinner one just for taking less space in my little gear bag. Thanks for the replies!

I have one of Danny's that I keep in my gear box, but I made one to carry around in my pack to keep weight down:

Image

Both work great.

For the one I made, I used 3/16" (5mm) Sail/Halyard Line. It's 1,400 lb tensile-strength polyester that I picked up on eBay. I put a directional figure 8 loop on one side and a Blake's Hitch, a type of friction knot, on the other. Both of these knots are high-efficiency, critical-use knots. The Blake's Hitch on one side makes adjusting the length simple. As you can see, both have stopper knots.
