Would a 200lb Excalibur be too much for bowfishing?? I have never used a crossbow for bowfishing

I would think it would be too much bow. I'd get a Vixen, bow fishing is a lot of fun!!!

Thanks for the input. I want to buy a crossbow for my dad since he can't draw a bow do to an injury. Just debating between a 200lb or a 175lb xbow considering it will be used for hunting as well in the off season

Welcome aboard, any excal your Dad can cock will definitely take care of land or sea critters he may be hunting.

Is it possible with a 380? Got Asian carp all in the lake. I have not shot fish with an arrow since I was a kid.

In a conversation I had w/ Danny Miller recently, I asked him about the 200# Vortex [NO].

The problem is the arrow will blow right through them and possibly ding the tip on the bottom if the water is shallow enough.

Wheelie is our resident expert on bow fishing, maybe he'll chime in......

A vortex would be well suited for fishing..........for great white sharks  Seriously a vixen is more than enough for the job.
