The 405 did not seem as well balanced as the 380. It felt heavy, unbalanced, and bulkier. feel/comfort is the most important thing to me....especially at 15 ft up in a tree.
I think it's a little easier to accidentally cant a Matrix due to the shorter limbs...it puts the weight of the limbs closer to the center which means it rotates on the axis (the rail) quicker and easier than an Exo series. The shorter stock has the same effect on the front-to-rear axis. I love the feel and balance of my 380, and it handles considerably quicker than the wide bows. There can be a down side to shorter/lighter/quicker handling, but I think the 380 pretty much nailed it for an all-around well balanced bow. I own both versions and I although I love my 405, because it is compact, I find it feels too light, even though it only weighs a few ounces less than my Exomax
Being used to the longer and wider EXO series, I find it will take me a while and some practice to be able to shoot my 405 as accurately as I can my older models.
