405 draw string question

Post by douglasaedmunds »

So just received my new 405, have a question for all new 405 owners. My draw cord is too short to reach the strings and I have to put on 1 side and then pull back the string almost 1" to get the other hook on. Is this the norm or did I accidentally get a drawstring that is for a different crossbow model??? its kind of a pain!!

It is normal to pull back the string about 1".
I shorten my cocking rope even more so that I pull the string back about 4" to hook the cocking rope to the string. This way I do not pull very far to engage the string in the latches - my preference.

No worries, after a bit of practice the 1" string movement will become natural and inconsequential.

X2, about 4". Keeps the cocker in place when you head into the woods too!

what kind of target can be used that the 405 won't blow through?

Rinehart 18-1. But it will be fun pulling them out. Also it would be wise to use bull nose points instead of the two stage type, they penetrate much easier, and deeper, my 2 cents!

X2 on the Rhineharts. Lube every arrow for every shot and get some Danny Miller plier pullers. I know Boo uses a third hand archery rag bag with his 405 and it stops the arrows dead. Easy to pull and won't break the spine of your arrows. I got one that I use with my M380 and it's awesome....a pain in the butt to fill but now that it's done I love it.
