Tips on sighting in Matrix 405 with Twilight DLX scope
If I zero the scope at 20 yards on the lowest speed rating (300 fps) will the zero change when I move it up to the highest speed rating of (410 fps)? It says it's a 3 to 6 power but you have to change that by the speed setting ring. Am i missing something?

Zero will not change at different scope magnification powers.

The crosshairs always stay centered in the field of view. When you turn the 'speed ring', the gaps change which is how these scopes perform their magic, lol.

Get a tall target, or stack two if you can. Once your 20 yard crosshair is set dead on at 20, move the double stacked target to 50 yards. Aim at a dot near the top expecting the arrow to drop 36". Use the 20 yard crosshair to shoot at the that dot knowing it will be 30" low. Now, set your crosshair on that same dot, and zoom your scope until the 50 yard dot is on that arrow, and the 20 is on that dot. Now you should be close, aim at a dot in the middle with the 50 yard chevron, and it should be right there. Don't cant the bow, that will throw you off left, to right. You might have to make a few clicks at 50 yards for windage anyway. Don't be concerned with the scope dial reading for speed, it is not intended to be right on. If you want to know your arrow speed, you must use a chronograph.
Hope this helps, and congrats on the bow.

Re: Tips on sighting in Matrix 405 with Twilight DLX scope
Thanks for the help, hopefully this weekend I can do some shooting and play around with the scope. Will it matter if I zero it in at 3 power or 6 power? Should hit the same spot either way I'm thinking.

Yep, it does not matter what power level you zero at.MSG (Retired) wrote:Thanks for the help, hopefully this weekend I can do some shooting and play around with the scope. Will it matter if I zero it in at 3 power or 6 power? Should hit the same spot either way I'm thinking.

That only affects your other chevrons, they are off center, and widen, or narrow as you zoom.

Some how (welcome to the last half of my life

I didn't read that it was the 405 we were talking about. I think your zero should be at 30, not 20.

Re: Tips on sighting in Matrix 405 with Twilight DLX scope
I did some shooting today, with the scope set a 6 power (410) on the speed ring I was hitting right on at 30 yards using the 30 yard chevron, when I dialed it down to 3 power (300) on speed dial I was hitting 4" high using the same 30 yard chevron at 30 yards. I did use the information that Boo and Xcalibur suggested and I had the same results. Not sure why the change in POI just from zooming in from 3 to 6 power. I can just leave it on 6 power but kind of defeats the purpose of having a variable power scope.
Re: Tips on sighting in Matrix 405 with Twilight DLX scope
The variable power changes the spacing between markers so when you zoom in you have a larger spacing between markers. The purpose of the variable power is to adjust for all the variables - arrow weight, arrow speed, distance, brace height etc. The variable power is not used to see closer.MSG (Retired) wrote:I did some shooting today, with the scope set a 6 power (410) on the speed ring I was hitting right on at 30 yards using the 30 yard chevron, when I dialed it down to 3 power (300) on speed dial I was hitting 4" high using the same 30 yard chevron at 30 yards. Thanks Boo, that makes sense. First crossbow, used to shooting a rifle and a crossbow has a lot of different things to factor in. I really like shooting the Matrix 405. Once it's zero in It's in the bull every time.
Re: Tips on sighting in Matrix 405 with Twilight DLX scope
If you are zeroing your bow at 30yds you should be using your crosshairs at 30 ydsMSG (Retired) wrote:I did some shooting today, with the scope set a 6 power (410) on the speed ring I was hitting right on at 30 yards using the 30 yard chevron,
Your 30yd chevron is now 40 and so on.
