Fletching jig

Post by Rogue_wave »

Hi all

I want to get back into building arrows again. Any body have anything to say about the Arizona fletching jig?? Good or bad or is there something else one would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Yep....Its great!...I use the Arizona EZ-Fletch...three at a time for the 2" Blazers...there are other models which allow for the 3 and 4" fletching...I am only familiar with the EZ-Fletch...

I used to use the Bitzenburger Jig in my compound days but there really is no need for it..in fact i am selling my Bitz in the trading post....some guys swear by it but I like easy and the Arizona EZ Fletch is easy!

The Bitzenburger is a precision jig and built to last. Can't say anything bad about it, but after using one for decades I sold it soon after using an Arizona EZ fletch.

The Arizona is much faster and doesn't require any additional accessories to switch from vert bow nocks to crossbow arrows.

I recently went back to doing them one at a time, and there is some time involved in the process, but the results are worth it my opinion. I bought the Bohning Pro Class for crossbow bolts, then the Grayling for my vertical bow arrows, it came with the adapter, but like them both a bunch. Gave the EZ Fletch to another member here, it does a good job too.
Good luck, and be prepared to get addicted to making arrows.

I have a Bohning Tower jig, that I would Gladly sell... I also would rather fletch my arrows, one at a time. Bitz is the only jig I want to use...

I'm new to crossbow hunting and shot one of my fletchings off a couple of weeks ago. I ended up buying an EZ Fletch Bolt and changed all my 4" fletchings on my FireBolts to 2" Blazers. It went very well for my first time with no problems.

I did find that #0000 Finest Steel Wool worked perfectly to clean the old glue off of the FireBolts.

Thanks all.
Look like I'll be buying a blitz. When I was building arrows for the vertical I did one vane at a time and it worked well for me, even with the sub par jig I had. I'm hoping to do so physio on my shoulder ( rotator cuff ) to allow me to shoot the verticals again, haven't shot one in a six years! just something about home grown arrows!!! Funny how making my own bolts never really been an issue until now.

cheers

I love the bitz for my compound arrows but for my crossbow i went to the Bolt and wouldn't use anything else. Simply easier, faster, and more precise for repairs.
