200 pound limbs on 175 pound bow???

Post by motorcycle »

Can I install 200 pound Exocet or Vortex limbs on a 175 pound Phoenix bow to make a 200 pound Phoenix?

the 200 pound exocet and vortex have a powerstroke of 15.5 while the Phoenix has 14.5 so I guess it would be a little less fps due to the reduced draw :?: :?:

limbs are the same, it's the length of the rail that makes up the poundage...

Ok,now I get how it works. That makes sense completely. So if I wanted to go from a 175 pound bow to a 225 pound bow I would replace the rail to one from an Exomax which has powerstroke of 16.5 versus the 14.5 that I have now.

If you had carved limbs on your exocet...unless someone mixed and matched it (i.e. it's a hybrid) then what you had was a 165# exocet with a 15" rail and a straight cast riser. Replacing just your limbs doesn't change those specs. All it allows you to do is use dyna-flite or other HMPE strings. Therefore, all you'll gain is a few fps. in speed.
