M405 Accuracy

Post by vonotto »

High I'm new to Crossbows and this forum. I have a M405 shooting stock Diablo arrows with 150gr field pts. What kind of accuracy should I expect at 30yrds?

If you are shooting at the same dot once you have it zeroed it - Do not leave previously shots bolts in the bag. It can get costly with Robin Hoods.

Just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats~!

Cheers

Can't really say what kind of accuracy to expect from a m405. I'm sure there will be some answers on the way. But welcome to the forum.

You should be capable of 2 inch groups with ease at that distance with all stock equipment. I actually think the bow is capable of 1/2 inch groups at that distance, but realistically speaking, 2 inch groups should be the norm.

I am shooting the Matrix 405 with Diablos and 150 grain field points. I also shoot the 150 grain boltcutters. At 30 yards, I can pretty easily get 1/2" groups, but as others have said, you will destroy bolts if you shoot at the same target multiple times. Have fun with the new 405! :D

I can't say about your proposed set up, but I can tell you that the 405 is capable of sub zero inch groups at 50 yards with broadheads.

I think you mean sub one inch groups as sub "zero" would be pretty interesting. I know I'm a smart A$$.

I recently purchased the 405 and agree with boo. With boltcutters at 35 yards is < 1" groups. I don't doubt it can do the same at longer distance.

But what i did find out is that you need to number your fletching and shoot them with each vane down as the Cock vane and you will get the heads dialed in with no problem at all.

Best of luck and I hope you enjoy your 405 as much as I do.

Did some shooting today, it cucks arrows with no rhyme or reason.sometimes they group, other times there's flyers, sometimes the group will change impact point. This is with field tips, I can't imagine broadheads.

Sounds like scope/rings/mt/stock screws/trigger assembly screws!

Yep, check fasteners. If all good, next would be evaluation of each arrow, one at time until your sure they aren't the issue.
