First Buck Kill with the Axiom

This has been a busy fall for me outside of hunting. Work, my buddy's wedding, and a trip to Disney World limited my time in the woods. Finally my schedule opened up yesterday (11/8) and I headed to Michaux State Forest here in Southcentral PA. I have a great spot that is a long uphill hike to get to and doesn't get much pressure. With no cars in the parking lot, I knew I had thousands of acres to myself.

I got setup in my naturally built groundblind. I put out my Pure Heat by Realscent. (Note that my brother in law owns this scent company which supplies many national brand names...it is simply the best). About 7:45 I saw a deer approaching. I sat down in the blind and could see he was coming toward me, curling his lips, nose in the air trying to find his date. When he got to 30 yds, I smoothly sat up and laid they Axiom on the top log of the ground blind. He stopped to curl his lips and looked at me one last time. The Gold Tip Lazer II was on its way...the Spitfire 100s nailed him in the boiler room, a passthrough that quickly took out both lungs. He ran 40 yards, stopped, reared up and fell over backwards. 6 point.

This is my first buck and third deer in 3 years hunting with the xbow. Taking them from the ground during the rut is an adrenaline filled experience plus eliminates the headache and hassle of treestand hunting. Quickly delivered him to my Amish butcher...who's ready for deer dogs?? Tried to upload pics through facebook to no avail...sorry.
