I'm jealous - we can't get them in the US.Species8472 wrote:Big fat cuban cigar to enjoy and gauge wind direction.
Reminds me of the time I decided to brew up a fresh cup of coffee on my alcohol backpacking stove in my blind. Had the coffee brewing nicely with a great aroma coming from the pot, lit up a vanilla flavored cigar, and a button buck ran up to the blind and almost had his head inside the window sniffing the scents coming from the blind.

I am partial to trail mix (I know it's M&M's with obstacles) but its an easy snack when I need it in the tree.
When I go moose hunting I keep a number of MRE's in my pack - I had a sleep over on shore a number of years back after hitting a rock with the boat motor and the MRE was like fine dining.
Cheers

A single granola bar and occasionally deer jerky or summer sausage. I seldom hunt all day. Its hard to hunt all day when you can smell what people are having for lunch from your treestand.

...deer are curious animals and I know of many guys that don't change any habits including smoking in their stand and have deer come right under their stand and they drop butts on their back....
...tell you right now...i wouldn't be dropping any of my sandwich on them!

Anthony, you kill me! That's my kinda pannino (Italian sandwich)....and I believe it's pronounced 'sangweech'

I do Swiss and turkey or ham roll ups with a bit of mustard, granola bars and a thermos of hot cinnamon spice tea on cold days.

For archery, we only hunt the morning and late afternoon behind our house. I typically take some fruit and coffee for the morning.
During gun season down at the inlaws farm, we take Beef Jerky, natural Valley Granola Bars, water , coffee, pistachios, and of course a couple mini snickers. We break for lunch for a hot meal and a chance to warm up and discuss what we saw/heard that morning

Homemade granola bars using this recipie. I substitute 1/2 a cup of unsweetened apple sauce for 1/2 a cup of the butter. Far better than what you get in the store and no noisy wrapper to deal with.

My buddies and I used to experiment while sitting in the stand with which tobacco products were the best deer attractant. A couple of my buddies swore copenhagen original was the best while some others though marlboros did the best job. I always felt like I had the best luck while chewing redman. Gave all that up years ago though so now I just sit quietly guarding my corn piles.

Thank you everyone, that helped my question a lot. I'll give you an update after Nov 28th weekend. Here's to taking my first deer ever.

A Fluffernutter Sammich! Nothing says hunting season like PB and Marshmallow Fluff on wheat. I especially like them on those cold mornings when the cool temps toughen it up a bit!

I like things that are easy to stuff in my yap with only my hands. Nuts and seeds, granola bars, sandwiches, apples, homemade jerky or pepperettes and cheese. A bottle of water in the warmer weather and sometimes a thermos of something hot when its cold out. Occasionally a flask or Crown or maple whiskey will find it's way into my pack too.
