What powder were you using in the T/C?
I have a NewEnglander .50 and a NewEnglander 12ga. The same gun as the GreyHawk, but blued.
The .50 has never given me any problems, but the 12ga only likes real BP. I finally switched to a replacement nipple that uses 209 primers for the 12ga. It was working fine with #11 caps & ffg Goex, but I just feel more confident it's going to go boom every time with a 209 primer.
Mike, i was usin FFF Goex blk. powder. I should popped a cap prior to loading it. I also have a T/C New Englander 50 cal. LH caplock wid a nice peep on it. I have the .56 cal smoothbore Renegade usina .550 patched round ball or #6 over 80gr FF fer tree rats n such

Tryin to keep up with you, I went to town today picked up our repaired Gen. & 2 antlerless archery tags. I was surprised they let me have 2. I was expectin to only get one
Are you going to stay with muzzleloaders or switching to CF rifles? All my brother and I use in NYS are single -shot rifles and my favorites are made by CVA. They are inexpensive, tough, point like a wand and have great triggers. Way better than the Handi-rifles which I shot for years.

I am hoping the H&R 45-70 comes in today. Will be sending the barrel off to have it converted to smokeless ML. I will be usin sabots n .40 cal bullets. I ck'ed price on Apex & it was way too much fer my budget.
Yeah, the CVA Apex is too expensive for me too. Of course, the Micro bow i just got cost much more; but cheaper to shoot. I hunt with a Hunter in 7mm-08 or a Scout in 44 Mag. I prefer the Scout's underlever action and stainless steel build to the Hunter model. Smokeless muzzleloading is one thing I have not tried yet I might have to give it a look.

You sir, are a true leader when it comes to hunting deer!
Very kind words from a man who is a great deer hunter himself. Thx
