Congrats. Bet you were shaking with excitement afterwards. Good that you held it together to make the good shot.

Were you up in a treestand or in a ground blind?

Congratulations! Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story, that's AWESOME! Don't downplay the doe, you're still shooting archery equipment and any deer you can harvest is an accomplishment. :D

Congrats man, They're never "just a doe" that's a trophy resulted from countless hours spent in the woods, in season hunting and out of season scouting. Hours spent reading articles, internet sites. Days freezing thinking I could be warm in bed instead of getting rained on watching this empty field. Countless dollars spent on equipment, clothing and gas to get there. Sometimes they're does, Sometimes they're bucks, either way they are something to be proud of when the work pays off. The first is always something to be remembered, good job.

Hey guys, thank you very much for the comments! Yeah, I'm still pretty stoked. Just picked up the meat from the butcher. We had a family joke that I'm really awesome at "hunting", just need to work on the gathering part. It really helped getting the opportunity the hunt on this property. I find NJ public hunting areas pretty tough to hunt. I'm allow to hunt till the 18th of the month so hopefully I will be reporting another.

BTW, someone had asked whether is was from a stand or blind. I was in a stand about 15' up. Saw about 6 does that afternoon, but they all stayed behind thick brush, so I had no opportunities. She came out by herself very cautiously, (at first thought she was a buck and I came pretty close to a heart attack) but saw she was a big doe. I thought for sure she could hear my heartbeat or see my fat butt shaking like a leaf, but thankfully that wasn't the case.

Thanks again for the comments and the warm welcome!
