I just got my first Excalibur ever today, and it is a camo Micro 335. My question is why do they use flat nocks on the arrows, and can other styles be used safely? Also, since I am new to this, what can I do to quiet this beautiful little creature down a bit besides a heavier arrow?

Use only flat nocks. As for quiet, besides a heavier arrow, contact one of the custom string builders on this forum such as Boo and tell them you want a quiet string. You'll have a heavier Flemish string with whiskers that will be slower but quieter. Discuss it with them. Wrap or tape or plasty dip your rail. Apparently the new for 2015 air brakes work great with no speed loss.
You're only paranoid if everyone isn't out to get you.

....Mini-Me (Nightmare335) was was safely delivered by the stork yesterday...I must say he was much more rugged and textured (LOVE IT!) than my other whimppy, smooth faced offspring ( Matrix 335 Camo) which is being kicked out shortly....

....I am in the process of doing some minor operations on the two...switching the stock so as to keep me from changing the scope, transferring the Micro Munch Mount, adding the Tac-Pac package and the ATN Shot-Trac HD camera and other small changes to acclimate Mini-Me to his new home....

....All should be completed by this evening at which time the proud papa will provide this group with images of the new tyke....

I too received my 335 nightmare yesterday but my joy was short lived as I amputated the end of my thumb (about 1/2 inch) while fine tuning the Varizone. I somehow got my thumb (still don't know how) above the rail and sheered it with the string when taking a practice shot.

The doctors sewed it back on and have hopes for a good recovery. That said, I've been shooting my exomax safely for 3 years so I'm a little perplexed as to how I could have screwed up so badly. My brain won't let me run thru a mental checklist to recall what I did wrong.
