Mods to Matrix 330
I was just out shooting my 330 and really like it "but" I think I want to make a few more modifications and get it settled in before turkey season gets upon us. so far I've added Danny's RBBBs, cheek piece, quieted the stirrup, quieted the arrow retainer and installed two Sims Stabilizer enhancers on the underside of the riser. (it seems to have taken a lot of vibration out of the bow) and I will be ordering a couple flemish strings from one of the people here in the next few weeks. I haven't dry fired "yet" and have decided to go ahead and get the ADF for a little added insurance. The Vari-zone scope that came with it is okay for now so I guess i'll keep using it until something go wrong with it.
Now the thing that i'm on the fence about is "the horrible stock trigger". It has a very long & rough creep and the break doesn't seem very consistent. I would like for the trigger to be of very little or no creep at all and IF THER MUST BE CREEP, I would prefer that it be smooth with a clean consistent break. I would like to hear from some of you who use the Trigger Tech Single Stage on their bows, especially the Matrix 330 before I drop the cash for one.
I guess I just got used to the adjustable Tru-Ball release for my vertical compound.

I have the two stage, and it was a great upgrade. If you could get a great price on a Micro stock trigger, like $60, or less, jump on it. If you decide on the SS TT, get a hold of Mainstreet Archery, George, you can find him on this forum, and the Trading Post, he'll hook you up!

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
Thar be some ppl. on here that figures you need to shoot it couple hundred times to let it break-in well. I gave mine 300 shots n it never came around in my 355. So i sent it in fer warranty repair. Its fairly slick now
Re: Mods to Matrix 330
My 20 year + Excalibur wish list came true 2 hunting seasons ago when TriggerTech released their 2 stage trigger unit and matching Red Lever to touch the string off and it surely makes the corners of my lips raise each and every time I pull the TT trigger.
Many here on the forum have swapped out the factory unit for the TT and none have regretted their decision. I have read a few posts recently stating the newer Micro trigger is so good that swapping in the TT was not needed for some. I will see for myself soon enough when my next Excalibur M arrives but I ultimately expect a TT to reside in my new Micro.

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
The first thing I added to my Axiom and 355 was the ADF. That is very cheap insurance. Second was the string suppressors. Still on the fence about A TT for the matrix...

If you think you have a legitimate complaint about your trigger, the first think you should do is to create a new account here http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/service and open a new ticket. If you want to go bananas and get a fancy trigger that's cool but you'll still be left with a trigger that needs fixing.
Now I have to say something about the crowd. You guys with a picture of your Shephards are making me crazy! You aren't making it easy for me to say no to getting one again!

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
I don't think there is anything wrong with your trigger, as the words you use to describe how it feels are similar to how I described mine. Too much slack and creep, a little gritty before breaking. It is night and day comparing the stock trigger to the Trigger Tech. I installed the Single Stage on my M330....there is no slack...........no creep............it breaks cleanly and catches me off guard/surprises me when it breaks........that is a good thing. It is a great trigger and I can't imagine anyone complaining about the investment of a Trigger Tech. You can't dry fire a crossbow trigger like you can a rifle trigger to get accustomed to it..................I guess I can't complain about something that isn't even possible

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
ehntr, thats what I would like... a break so clean, that it almost suprises me. Thats the way I have my tiggers set on my releases As I sometimes suffer with target panic.
......aand boo, thnks for the info, I will look into that and I may even call Danny Miller when I have time to talk and discuss it with him. As for the German Shepherds, you might as well just give in and do it. Deekan (my shephard) is almost 10 years old now and I know he wont be with me much longer but I honestly wouldnt take anything in this world for him. I'v had him since he was 8 weeks old and he is my best buddy. I'll be lookin to order a couple of strings from you soon.

If you and Bikerbob breed your dogs, I would give in! Yes, his dog is a female! Otherwise, I'm getting a Belgian Malinois.Possum wrote: As for the German Shepherds, you might as well just give in and do it. Boo, sadly, mine lost his man-hood when he was 6 months old. He never even got the chance. My wife made me do it.

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
Here's what I have done to my wife's Matrix 330.
-Boo Force-10 string
-17" Zombies
-leupold crossbones scope
-modified Bohning top-mount quiver backet
-lightened foot stirrup
-plasti-dipped buttstock and stirrup
-shrink wrapped retainer
-REDS and cheekpiece
-Micro 335 trigger
It is a sweet-shooter: 364gr arrow, Boo Force-10 string, 1/4" brace height, it shoots 337 FPS. Here are some pics:
My opinion, the Matrix 330 will stand the test of time to be a classic like the Exocet. They are easy on servings and components, easy to cock, accurate and plenty of punch. They are compact, lightweight and manoeuvre-able.
To weigh in on the TriggerTech debate, this bow used to have one. I moved the Micro 335 trigger into this bow. My wife will never know the difference, she hunts but a handful of times per year. The Micro trigger is more than adequate, it's quite good, but nowhere near as crisp as my TT 2-stages. I notice the difference and my next purchase will be a TT 2-stage for this bow.
As for factory trigger work, I say go for it if you're unhappy with the one you got. I did this before I got into the TriggerTechs and it made a horrible trigger good...

Re: Mods to Matrix 330
X2 on the Trigger Tech two stage triggers. I know Normous has custom triggers in some of his rifles also and the TT two stage falls right in there as a really fine trigger, simular to an Anschutz target rifle. I also have an Excal bow with a Boo trigger job. Don does an excellent job on these. They still have travel, but they are super smooth, much like a super tuned double action revolver. No creep, just travel. A month or so ago I got a Micro "take off" trigger from George at Mainstreet.( he had sold a bow and the buyer wanted a TT installed). These are good triggers, entirely shootable. They do have travel, and are not as light as the Boo trigger job trigger, but are the best factory trigger I have tried on an Excalibur. All three of these options are good options. It just depends on how much you care to spend and what kind of trigger you prefer. Hope this helped. Be safe and have a ball!Normous wrote:My 20 year + Excalibur wish list came true 2 hunting seasons ago when TriggerTech released their 2 stage trigger unit and matching Red Lever to touch the string off and it surely makes the corners of my lips raise each and every time I pull the TT trigger.

Boo , the photo on my Avatar is my partners 'Duty photo' for her ID badge. she has saved my bacon more times than I can count. Our last day on the job we had a subject that was high on drugs armed with a club near a school....he refused to comply, had already assaulted one officer...Baily and I arrive on scene....game over...stiches required for the bad guy.....since retirement we play and she tracks a wounded deer when needed and the rest of the time she gets to be a normal family member.....Boo wrote:If you think you have a legitimate complaint about your trigger, the first think you should do is to create a new account here http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/service and open a new ticket.
