New to the forum

Post by Wisconsinhunter »

:D Morning all, new here on the forum. Decided to join since my recent purchase of a Matrix 380. As a life long outdoorsman I am still fairly new to bow hunting. My Son is very good and has for years tried to get me into it, however a shoulder injury keeps me from pulling back a conventional bow. The older I get, I am leaning more towards to warm bow season instead of the sometimes harsh November gun season here in Wisconsin. I ask you members to please be patient with me as I may ask some dumb questions from time to time. I really excited about my new Matrix 380 and cannot wait for better weather to go out and play with it.

I do have one question for the group, in order to help me along to buy a xbow my son gave me a pack of 20 inch bolts and from what I gather, my matrix shoots a 18 inch bolt. Can I use a 20 in bolt in my Matrix?
If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

Hey welcome to the Excalibur clan. Yes you can use that size arrow. Most of us like to have an arrow length that puts the broadhead within the stirrup area. It helps keep the arrow and you from unintended contact. I myself use arrows of 4 different lengths with my collection of bows. Have fun, keep your fingers down and shoot straight.

Welcome, and X2 on the arrows. Some of us go shorter to allow us to hang the bow on a hook while hunting on stand without bumping the broadhead.

Welcome to the forum! I use 20" Black Eagle Executioner arrows out of my 355 with no problems. I have my matrix resting on a rifle rest in front of me while hunting always at the ready! The early Wis bow season is great to hunt in! No cold feet but there are bugs!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Agreed 20" arrows are fine but make sure they've got flat nocks, this is what Excalibur recommends and I certainly agree. Secondly, if you haven't got a stringing aid, get one. You'll need it to adjust your brace height which will be 3/4". Anyway, welcome again. Have fun, you're going to love that bow. :D
