Micro accuracy?

Post by buttnbuck »

Hey, just wondering if any of you Micro owners have had a chance to get out and see how accurate the Micro's are out to 50 yards. Plan on using mine for the 3d season this summer and would like to know if you guys or gals have been experimenting out to that yardage to see how well your groups are and what is working best. Any info would be appreciated.

I'm not a long distance shooter, but have shot to 50 yards with good accuracy. I was using a set of shooting stix, so not bench rest accuracy to be expected. I was using 15" Zombie Slayers with 92 grain brass inserts up front, 20.5 grain aluminum inserts rear, and 100 grain field points, 2 1/2" groups. I was happy with that. Up close, same hole accuracy free hand at 15 yards. As accurate as any Excalibur i have ever shot!

buttnbuck, I would suggest going 110 grains in the snout, or 125 grain heads for longer range accuracy, I'm into lighter arrows lately, and that combination is not necessarily the best for all. One of my buddies just into crossbow hunting, and he has the same setup I do with heavier heads, 125 grains, and he is a much better shot than i am anyway, just my opinion on getting started with your new bow.

Biggest contribution to accuracy is practice, these bows, unless on a rest are heavy and somewhat awkward.
Training your body to hold the bow steady, or better yet, control it's movement is paramount.
Practice builds confidence, with confidence comes accuracy.

To add to what has been said..
The Triggertech triggers never seem to get any complaints, and a smooth trigger sure wouldn't hurt anything.
If you are not willing to learn, nobody can help you, if you are willing, nobody can stop you.

Micro is certainly lighter than bows of a few years ago, but I meant crossbows in general.
When you have a stock against your shoulder and limbs protruding from each end it slows the amount of time it takes to move the bow.
I think of it like a tightrope walker, the extensions of the balance pole is for stability as well as to provide a leverage point. In a hunting environment that in my opinion is awkward.
If it stabilized things we would be seeing completion shooters with horizontal extensions on other stocked shooting apparatuses.
This is why I chose the words "somewhat awkward" opposed to simply being awkward. There is a big difference when you leave out that one word.

Ya, i agree with your suggestion on the 125gr. points xcaliber. i shot the Matrix 330 last year at a few tournaments and it too loved the 125gr. points.

I shoot 15in zombies, 110 brass inserts, 125 gr points. When shooting off a rest with no wind you better not aim at the same dot !

I heard the accuracy SUCKS.

So send me yours, I will tweak if for you and after a couple years of baseline data I will send it back "shooting perfectly"

I have always been amazed at the excalibur bows I've owned and when I got the micro I thought no way will it shoot as tight of groups as my other models did being as small as it was  I think it shoots tighter ... What can I say ... I'm in love.
