Beautiful as always Mike. What type of wood went into this one?

I have to ask, what is the tip on the butt end and black accent on the cheek piece? I don't think I have seen anything quite like that before.

.....I am just at a loss for words...Just curious what is the weight differential of a wood stock and the original?

.....amazing to watch a craftsman doing his work....simply beautiful!

Allan, that is black walnut with some very good grain. Oh, the Black accent and tip on the butt is for a Excalibur crank that Sew wanted on it. I hope it works but I have to admit I don't like the idea of that metal being cranked on the butt with all that weight. We shall see.

Anthony with the black walnut their just a bit heavier than the plastic stock. The wood will absorb the sound much better and it is warmer in the cold. It has a good feel to it.

I have a 405 and a 380. Hopefully, I'll not need to use the C-2 but want the option. Currently, I rope cock both: 380 is relatively easy, the 405 is a little harder. I'm just trying to be prepared for the future. I plan to use the stock on the 380. So, no C-2 for the forseeable future. Obviously, I'm anxious to get the stock. The amount of work on the stock is much greater than than the cost. It's not wise to try to rush virtual perfection.

Mike your talent has always intrigued me!
I am one day going to follow through with getting one fit for me. I am a fully licenced Cabinetmaker so woodworking is nothing new to me, but, I like your style and work. Your attention to detail and your tight tolerances keeps me interested every time I see you do one!
One day my Friend, one day, I will get one!!!

Keep up the great work Mike!!!

It's a cool stock for sure. I like the grain all glossed up and flat. Either one look neat

....actually I am not jealous....I am very appreciative in the craftsmanship that is required for this masterpiece....I love my crossbows as they are....but am in complete awe in what it takes to create such a gem....both from a time and knowledge perspective....If I owned one of these I would have it hanging from my wall and never use it.
