bolts for axiom

Post by drodeo »

Got new Axiom yesterday... Will need bolts soon and will probably end up getting more firebolts like ones that came with bow. However I have experience making up arrows for longbows and have several dozen aluminum 2116 2117 and 2512. I think the 25s are wider diameter. Any one know if these can be used with 175lb Excal.? I know that noch sp?, insert and FOC etc. experimenting will be required. Thanks for any help

I wouldn't use 25 dia arrows........string will be way below centre and the 12 walls would be very thin.

The problem with anything wider than a 22 series shaft is that they might not go past the latches (some nocks are a good bit wider than the shafts).
The shaft is measured in 64ths (a 22 series shaft is 22/64th of an inch wide or 0.34375" wide). The gap between your latches are approx 0.374". Figure it out your self but I'll give you a hint that the 25 series shafts will cause a semi dryfire each and every time.
