TEXFEST Raffle Tickets

Post by flightattendant100 »

I have raffle tickets for the drawings at Texfest. They are $5.00 ea, or 5 for $20.00. I know that at Boofest you needed to be present to buy the raffle tickets, but with Texfest being smaller, I think to raise as much money as possible, I need to open it up to the forum. All money raised will go to the charitable cause chosen for Boofest. Take a look on the TEXFEST Prizes and Donations thread to see some of the items that will be raffled off . This is another chance for all forum members to come together and help someone less fortunate. If you pm me I will send you my Paypal info. Texfest will be here before you know it. I'm sure looking forward to it.

I assume this is for US residents only ? If not, How does collecting a prize work for Canadian winners ?

My thoughts are; There are two tickets with same number on them, one will go into the hopper for the drawing, the other will be posted on a board with purchasers name etc on it, in order of purchase, so that they are fairly easy to locate at drawing. When someone not present ticket is drawn , the ticket is looked up on the board and they are notified. This is what I came up with to open it up to all forum members, and hopefully raise some extra money for the cause.

I think his question was how is he going to receive it if he wins. Not how you are going to do the draw.

Guess I'll ship it. The small items aren't too bad, the bow to Canada will cost me tho.

It's not just the cost of the shipping I was thinking about, it's the duties and taxes that may occur at the border that I am worried about. Something small may pass right through with no problem, but something of value and large like a bow will probably be stopped and charged Tax, but no duty since it's made in North America.
