Ok from what I can see, the only real difference between the Grizzly Matrix and the Matrix 310 is 5 fps, and the Matrix 310 uses aluminum (I think) for the frame and the Grizzly Matrix uses the composite frame.
So is their any benefit to having the aluminum frame over the composite frame?

Re: Grizzly VS Matrix 310
I have had both, both are great. The Aluminum is top shelf, the SMF is not a step down. Vague, aye? The weight is the factor, and cost to produce is cheaper for the SMF, and that saving is passed on to the consumer!
I shot the snot out of my Ibex SMF, I swear, no wear on that rail!!

Grizzly is a solid performer no complaints! Add a set of Danny Millers bumpers and your good to go.

The bumpers are to quite the crossbow correct? Do they seem to make a significant difference to you? I have heard mixed reviews about how much difference they really make.deertrx wrote:Grizzly is a solid performer no complaints! Add a set of Danny Millers bumpers and your good to go.

Re: Grizzly VS Matrix 310
My two cents...go with the 310 and don't look back. Aluminum railed bows hold their value longer because the next person to buy it from you is going to ask the same question you opened with..."Is there any advantage to aluminum?" The fact that you have to question it is reason enough not to buy it IMO...even if people swear by them, and they do. Here is an advantage...it'll hold it value longer.
Re: bumpers, they are worth every penny for dampening but also because you're a newb, it'll be a good reference for your BH, but don't get the Excalibur branded REdS, get Danny Miller's bumpers...cheaper and lighter.

As to your question about the bumpers reducing noise, yes they do some. It is not a MAJOR drop in noise though. Crossbows are noisy compared to verticle bows. You will never quiet one down to those standards. The bumpers help more in vibration, help protect your bow in case of dryfire ( and it will happen at some point ), and give you a visual reference as mentioned above. The Danny Miller bumpers are a bargain.740-483-2312 Have a nice chat.SLP82 wrote:Good to know. I will do that. Thanks!racking up points wrote:My two cents...go with the 310 and don't look back. Also if you fill out your profile a little more with where you live it is easier to recommend where to get accessories ,work done etc.
Re: Grizzly VS Matrix 310
I appreciate the information. I have heard a lot about Danny from other posts on multiple different crossbow forums and I intended to give him a call. He seems like a really nice and knowledgeable guy from what I have read. I will be sure to pick up some bumpers from him.flightattendant100 wrote: As to your question about the bumpers reducing noise, yes they do some. It is not a MAJOR drop in noise though. Re: Grizzly VS Matrix 310
Either choice will be good. As far as holding value, I have been burned by buying used from too many people on too many occasions. Every time I buy used, it seems that I end up with someone else's junk/problems. I usually don't get rid of something that works well period. I picked the grizzly because I didn't want to sink even more money into something that I might not like. As for speed, my grizzly with 352 grain arrow chronographs 312fps. With 150 grain points I get 298 fps. I don't think that there is any difference in speed, even though 5 or 6 fps isn't going to make a hill of beens difference. If you are going to spend the extra anyway, why not go with the 330, that would make it worth your while. Either way, you will be making the right choice.
