scope speed setting....screw function

Post by bobcat »

My micro came with an "octane" scope. is that a vari-zone?
i see alot of guys up grade but i like it so far what ever it is.
i sighted it in at 20 yds using the scope turrets. then went back to a measured 50 yds and tweaked the speed dial until i got the elevation right at 50. there is a flathead screw on the ring, is this to lock it down? i want to mark it so i can tell if it moves but if that screw locks it in place i will mark it and lock it.

No they are two different scopes. But if you are not having any issues, and it works...It's all good..

I also have wondered about the screw on the speed dial. Somebody chime in on what it's function is.

The screw does not lock it in place.

The screw should not be removed... it holds the magnifier in place.
There is a little slot that the screw sits in, and if loosened too far or removed then your speed ring won't work unless you can get it back in the right place again.
Don't ask me how I know this  but pm me if you need help getting it lined up again.

As per owners manual, for my rifle scopes, if the screw is removed the gas on the inside of scope will leak out. On my Taczone I taped the ring after I got it sighted in. This may not be the accepted method but it works for me.

a paint marking pen works good as well. And remember, if you go to a different type of string or arrow set up your speed will change again ;)dddd
