09-12-2015 Heading out at 5:00 a.m. Treestand Safety
Treestand Safety
Well since tomorrow morning kicks off our early season here in Central NJ. I thought a quick thread on safety would be a good idea.
1.License
2.Bow and cocking rope or two,and a quiver full of your favorite projectiles.
3.Safety Harness and Lifeline if you are a treestand sitter. drop rope to pull your gear up.
4.Let the proper people know where you are going to be and what time to expect you back.
5. The basics: cell phone, rangefinder, Bino's,knife or two, dragline, rubber gloves, two flashlights with extra batteries.
6. water and some sort of food if you are out there all day...
7. Basic toiletries like unscented baby wipes and toilet paper. Boy do the wipes come in pretty handy after a gut job
8. Any medicines one might take during the course of a normal day..
9. Misc: extra batteries, camera, hat to shield your eyes from the sun... Lip balm because who wants dried out wind burned lips? Aspirin, allergy medicine, a couple band aids cannot hurt. small packet of betadine just in case you nick your finger while gutting out your animal
10. For the guys who cut their arrows short to fit inside the stirrup, Don't forget to remove the bolt before letting down..
My season begins tomorrow and I'm stoked.. Like a kid the night before Christmas....
I'm packed and ready to sit all day. Rain gear is rolled up and attached to my day pack. food is prepared, fresh water in the canteen..
Good luck everyone heading out in the morning.. Be safe and post a pic from the stand
Ps: feel free to ad to the list..
Ed

Lol... I ride in style..Millennium M100u stands.. I've been using these for years. They are truly an all day sit stand, comfortable with the side straps to give you a sense of stability on either side just in case you happen to take a quick nappy. They are like sitting in a Lazy Boy.....

Central Jersey?
When did we get one of those? I thought we only had North and South with Toms River being the dividing line between them.
Hmm... gotta look into that.
In the mean time while I check your story out good luck. My season starts Oct 3rd down here
