String material?

Post by IroquoisArcher »

Maybe has been answered before or a taboo subject but here goes.
At the shop I help at I make the string blanks for the compound bows and then the owner finishs them with a machine purchased from Jessie.
Okay PA archery season opens Sat. with New York (can only use a crossbow last 2 weeks) opening today and Ohio a few days ago. Just put last endless loop string on an Excalibur (mag tip limbs) but have some flemish strings but majority of guys would rather not have them. Opening day we get usually 1/2 dozen or so guys who dry fire their bows plus a couple everyday through the season. Owner would like to be able to make up a few endless loop strings quick as expect a cut one or two within a few days.
What material is used? Was assuming Dyna97 and 32 strands? (make TenPoints, Barnetts, Parkers, etc. using Dyna97 and various strands and lengths per specs).
Any help?
Again don't know if this has been discussed before (didn't find anything) or is asked not to discuss?

The factory uses 28 strands of Dynaflight 97 on Matrix and Micros. On the older bows the standard string was 32 strands of Dacron. Both strings were endless loop and both used 0.036" Angel Majesty serving.

just for clarification is this correct?

Standard Excalibur string materials:

Standard string (pre-2001 carved limb tips): Dacron probably B-50 ????

Excel string (stand string that comes with non-new model excals): DynaFLIGHT ???

Flemish Dyna-flight String (upgrade string for all Excalibur crossbows except matrix and carved tips): DynaFLIGHT 97???

Matrix cub crossbow string: Dacron (catalog)
Matrix crossbow string: BCY DynaFLIGHT 97 (catalog)
Micro crossbow string: BCY DynaFLIGHT 97 (catalog)

0.036 angel majesty Center serving on all strings

I can't get 0.036 serving from any of the archery suppliers in Australia. I have been using 0.030 Halo. Do you foresee any problems?

I can get Brownell 0.036 off Ebay at a reasonable price. Is that any good?

thanks

Thanks for the help. Will allow Dave to put on any till he gets his new stuff in. He does deal with Danny over in Ohio.
Must have been at least a dozen Xbow strings have replaced in just over a week, 2 for one guy just 2 hours apart (at least he admitted it...was on a new Horton reverse limb, yes it did withstand the dry fires)!
Thanks also on the carved tip strand count. As far as I know I'm the only one there who ever had one of those replaced so he doesn't keep any in stock. :D

You can buy Angel Majesty dirextly from the manufacturer.
Halo is good, if you can put it on tight enough. Remember, it's ideal for finger shooters because it's so slick and likes to lay flat. Those 2 qualities make it bad for resisting separation.
Brownell or BCY crossbow serving is ok but won't work nearly as well as 0.036"Angel Majesty.

have a look at 8125 or 8190. have had a few custom string made and they seem to have little to no stretch and have been told they have little give in case of dry fires.

Outside of Erie, PA south of the town of North East (is in the north east part of Erie county hence the name), right next to New York. Is Dave's Archery.

D1: That inludes Matrix 405 too ??? And is it the same serving material used to hold the Loop together ???

All endless loop Excalibur strings, unless you go back to the carved tipped days.
