405 arrives

Post by donjose »

Been out of town till late tonight finally got to open the box looks sweet. One thing I noticed is the string is buried in the REDS. Not sure how well they hold up but tomorrow after work I will assemble and get the brace height squared away and see what they look like after the string gets off them. Can't wait to get some shots in this weekend.

Congratulations Jason, you're going to love it. Did you get your Danny Miller plier pullers yet? If you haven't it won't take you long to realize you're going to need them. Have fun with the new bow.

Great choice! After 32 years of owning crossbows, the M405 is by far my favorite!

I can pull my bolts out from my target with two fingers , no pliers needed. Buy a decent target you won't need pliers ..

When I received my 380 a short time ago, the string was also buried in the REDS. This is somewhat disconcerting to a new owner, especially if you have done research before buying and are aware of the importance of proper brace height. Fortunately, I had already purchased a stringing aid so I was prepared in that respect. What was surprising to me was the number of twists it took for me to get the BH adjusted. Somewhere around 17 or 18 as I remember. Having done my own tuning on binary cam compound bows for a few years where 6 - 8 twists is the average, this seemed excessive but it's what it took to get BH correct.
I'm sure there's a reason other than cost but I don't understand why these strings can't be pre-stretched before they are installed on the bow.

I actually have a spyderweb XL crossbow target as well as a rag bag and a rhinoblock as well as 3D targets. Do these quaify as good targets? Two fingers arrow removal is great with field points into a bag style target. Try shooting into some 3D targets or removing broadheads then come tell me how you don't need them.

Are you talking 17 or 18 half twists or 17 or 18 full twists? I would think 17 to 18 full twists loose would let you slip the string off the bow without a stringer if the string stops were removed.

Well got the brace height set at about 3/4 inch and will let it set till this weekend and see how much it moves again. I turned the string about 15 twist before It came of the REDS which one of the REDS looks horrible from the string being compressed on it since it was packaged and sold. Boy the C2 sure made the setting up go smooth. I wasn't paying attention and put my first chip in the camo on the stock with the C2 so she has a scar before I even put a arrow down range..
New Scope should be here tomorrow and then its fun time Saturday....
