Question about leaving cocking rope on

I leave my cocking rope off and stored in my backpack. I'm concerned that it might fall off during the trip to my hunting spots. The brush, etc. I have to navigate through may catch on it and off it goes or so I thought.

Shorten it up a bit and it will never fall off. It will make cocking easier also.

This is great advice. I have mine shortened to where I have to pull the string up about 3" to get the second hook on, it aint coming off!
