Micro takes down it's first buck

Post by fratri »

New Micro takes its first buck….
Tonight just worked out awesome, I couldn’t have planned it better. With yesterday’s heavy rains and tomorrow’s storm coming through I had a good feeling deer might be moving tonight. I was right. I got to the farm at 4:30 pm and hit this guy just after 5pm.
I saw him about 60yds away walking along a trail. I grabbed my grunt call and grunted twice as he stepped behind some brush. I seen him stop and look in my direction. A few seconds later he turns and starts walking toward me. With the wind in my favour and me up on the ladder stand he had no idea I was there. He stops a couple of times to test the air. He walked right toward me, I needed him to turn. If he turned to my right it was all open easy shot but if he turned to my left not so easy, brush in the way. So of course he turns left where the brush is. I look for an opening as he stops again to test the air. With him only 5 yds away I see his vitals and take the shot. At the shot he runs about 10 yds and stops. After a second or two he begins to start walking away. For a second I think maybe I missed, the twigs deflected my arrow? But no, he only takes about 15 steps and goes down on his front knees. His rear legs soon follow and he falls over less than 30 yds from me…
A beautiful 8 pointer…..
(Not the greatest pics but they will have to do)
