string snapped on my 330 today

Awsome sunny windless day here. I took the matrix 330 n the micro out for a shooting session.shot both bows for about n hour awsome groups even at 60 yards. I was almost done (tired) i shot the 330 off the bench and twaaaak ....zoing the limbs are doing a stringless dance. At first i thought a dry fired but the bolt actually hit the bag. I had trouble finding the string only found half wasnt a clean break was a long shreaded break halfway between serving n loop. I cant find any damage the factory excal string was a month old not beat at all. The only thing i can see is the limb support band has a small bend but i remeber it being that way before.(ill post a pic.) I heard of strings breaking dry fire wise but never on there own maby i had a nick in it? Just so my bow is ok . Shot it n seems ok . Anybody have any input.

The ironic thing is that the 330 is on the weekling side off the excal matrix bows

What rear nocks are you using and where us the break?

Ive seen recoil plates like that before. Dry fire was the cause both times.

man that bars bent you couldn't bent with a wrench and the factory alen heads..bet the arrow wasn't all the way back

Nocks are flat .factory excal 2219s. Arrow made it all the way to bag target 40 yards if it wasnt seated couldnt have been much . It was my first shot after gathering them .

How does that nock look after the shot?

Nock n bolt are fine i shot it ten times after in the micro

Take a good look at the nock for sharp edges or burrs.

Thanks ill discard the bolt.im gonna put a new set of plates on tomorrow im not seeing any limb damage. That particular strings been weird seemed to constantly stretch .after the holidays ill put a better string on i have an extra flemish from one of the forum stringmakers. Its not fair to blame the string well never know if i nicked it hunting i took that bow thru hell this season .i dont have an adf on that bow but i dont think it could have helped in this case .

Sorry this happened to you. You nailed it with thoughts of adding ADF and better strings for sure! Better days of shooting for you.

Any string that is continually stretching should get replaced. If you put that string under a high power magnifying lense, you would see small micro tears length wise on the string.
