I didn't know about the recall should I return it and get the 380 ? I'm new to crossbow hunting and any feedback would be very helpful thank you.

Welcome to Excalibur Crossbows!! As far as what to do with it, I can't tell you. If you would tell us where you're from in your personal info we would see where to send you for answers. If from America,, call Danny Miller, he knows more about Excalibur's, than Excalibur knows!! If from Canada well sorry but you'll need to call Excalibur, these are where I would turn if I wanted to know about recall issues. I know I bought one a month or so ago, and haven't had an issue yet, about 70 shots, and over 100 hours cocked time by leaving it cocked over night several times.

I would highly suggest keeping arrow weight over 400 grains,,, and adding air brakes before you shoot it. May not be necessary, but it's like buying insurance. As for getting the 380, I would recommend doing that and keeping the 405,, I have 2-380's and they will never go anywhere, but the 405 still found a way in the cave, you can't be too over bowed......

What recall? Triggers were recalled early on, like two years ago, but that only affected a small number of bows and if yours was purchased more recently you likely have nothing to worry about. To put your mind at ease, follow WCs advice above.

I'm not aware of any new recalls on the 405, Maybe somebody is giving you bad info or maybe your concern after hearing about the minimal limb problems . I have a couple of 405's in my family and have no concern at all...

If you come across a used 405 how do you know if the trigger is good? Has the replacement trigger been marked or is there marking on the old trigger that would indicate that it was one of the recalled triggers.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on a nice bow. I would use the stock arrows for now. The reason being that in the process of sighting in and shooting your bow you will probably Robin Hood a few arrows. With high end arrows it gets expensive rather quickly.

May get this wrong? I believe the recalled and or current "NIB" M405's have a greenish trigger lever on the trigger unit. Maybe someone else in chime in?

I have shot deer, bear and a moose with my diablos with no accuracy issues , it's my understanding unless your shooting 3D or longer then 60 yds your fine with the diablos .. Sure you can spend extra money and improve your accuracy , IMO minimal improvement for the cost ,,

Enjoy your 405, It's a great crossbow...
